LAW IN PERSON-LECTURE WITH CARLA VAN OS
Carla van Os is legal staff member of Defence for Children International, an organization active in the field of the rights of children. Western Sahara and the right to self-determination
Former Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General, Peter van Walsum, declared in 2008 that ‘the independence of Western Sahara is not a realistic option’. In his advice to the Security Council, he pled for a compromise between political reality and international law. The search for a solution to this issue will be at the focal point of a debate on the 20th of April 2009, organized by the Amsterdam Student Association of International Law.
