European Commission's Expert Group on a Common Frame of Reference in the area of European Contract Law

Prof. dr. Martijn W. Hesselink has been appointed by the European Commission as a member of an Expert Group on a Common Frame of Reference in the area of European contract law.

Framework Service Contract European Parliament

CSECL has won for the second time a tender of the European Parliament on European contract law, including consumer law.

CSECL and IVIR obtain EU funding for research on digital content services for consumers

The Centre for the Study of European Contract Law (CSECL) and the Institute for Information Law (IVIR) have won a European tender for a joint research project concerning ‘the legal framework for digital content services for consumers'.

Prof Aukje van Hoek lead researcher of study team for European Commission

In 2011 Prof. Aukje van Hoek was lead researcher of the study team on the legal aspects of the posting of workers in the framework of the provision of services in the European Union (contract VC/2011/0096).

Symposium EC Directive proposal consumer rights

On 28 January 2009 the CSECL organised a symposium about the European Commission's proposal for a Directive on Consumer Rights. Renowned speakers gave their opinion on the draft Directive and its effects on Dutch consumer law and contract law. Their papers have been published in Het voorstel voor een Europese richtlijn consumentenrechten. Een Nederlands perspectief.

UvA-hoogleraren evalueren handelen DNB inzake Icesave

UvA-hoogleraren Adrienne de Moor-van Vugt en Edgar du Perron voerden in opdracht van de minister van Financiën een evaluatie uit naar de gang van zaken rondom Icesave. Zij concluderen onder andere dat het DNB niet was toegestaan te waarschuwen voor de situatie bij Landsbanki/Icesave.

New request European Parliament

The European Parliament has asked Prof. Hesselink to write a background note on the state of play of EU legislation and policy on contract law.

SSRN journal European Private Law

As of Spring 2009, the CSECL sponsors a SSRN journal on the topic of European Private Law.
